When a homeowner dies, leaving nobody living in the property, there are a number of tasks that need to be addressed by the executor of the Will (if there is one) or by whoever is appointed to deal with the estate administration.
This includes:
- Making the property safe and secure
- Shutting off heating and water supplies
- Making arrangements for any pets
- Informing utilities, providers and the council
- Dealing with the property insurance as the property is now vacant
- Arranging property repairs if required
- Clearing the property
- Dealing with the transfer of ownership or sale of the property
- Redirection of mail
