I am Solicitor within the Personal Injury Department at Barker Booth & Eastwood. I deal with all types of personal injury compensation claims and I have been involved in claims resulting in injuries of varying degrees of severity, from minor sprains through to serious brain injuries.
I believe it is of great importance to establish, from the outset, all the potential pitfalls that may arise in any compensation claim, which is why I am thorough and meticulous in my approach when pursuing a client’s claim from the claims infancy. I have a proclivity for research. I enjoy leaving, ‘no stone unturned,’ which I find greatly assists me to thoroughly assess the merits of the case, and puts me in the best position to negotiate the most advantageous settlement for my clients.
I pride myself on my ability to accurately analyse my client’s desired outcome and tailor my approach accordingly. I understand that each claim is unique, and, whilst monetary compensation is at the heart of the claims process, clients may have additional desires and considerations which are equally important to them. These could be all manner of outcomes, such as a desire for rehabilitation (physiotherapy, CBT treatment), an explanation for why the accident occurred, or perhaps even, to be vindicated/receive an apology. I give careful consideration to those aspects of the claim and ensure they are at the forefront of each claim I am custodian of.
I began my legal journey in 2010, when I embarked on a 3-year law degree at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), achieving an upper second-class honours degree. From there, I secured employment as a paralegal, working at a small, reputable Claimant firm in Preston, who specialised in Personal Injury claims. I went on to do a qualification in Legal Practice (LPC) at UCLan whilst working as a trainee Solicitor, combining both studying part-time and working full time. I qualified as a Solicitor in January 2020.
I am a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), a not-for-profit organisation of likeminded professionals, whose reactive campaigning aims to put injured people at the heart of Governmental Policy.
Outside of Work
I enjoy spending time with my Partner and our two young boys. Our weekends typically consist of trips to the skateparks and painting indoors. When we have some rare child-free moments, I enjoy seeing my close friends out on the town! I love history, and I find English etymology fascinating. I love to learn about the obscure and at times surprising origins of everyday words. You can go away and look up the origins of the word ‘botulism,’ (which is my personal favourite, for reasons I cannot fathom)!
